About the COVID-19 Artist Relief Grant Program

The COVID-19 pandemic has restricted the livelihoods of artists as galleries, music venues, museums, studios, and schools closed their doors and limited artist access to showcase their work and generate income. Additionally, artists tend to engage in gig work and restaurant jobs to supplement their income while creating. As COVID-19 closed many of these establishments, local artists simultaneously lost income from art engagements and side jobs.

The COVID-19 Arts Relief Grant initiative, in partnership with Stockton Strong Coalition, the Stockton Art League, and HATCH Workshop, will support the distribution of unrestricted $1000 grants to Stockton artists who have experienced financial hardship and income-loss during the COVID-19 crisis.

5/6/21 UPDATE: Due to a generous grant from the Financial Center Credit Union, we are opening a second round funding opportunity. This will award up to 50 more $1,000 unrestricted grants to Stockton artists that meet the eligibility criteria! We ask that you please share this good news with your fellow Stockton arts colleagues who did not already apply for this grant. Applications for Round 2 are due May 24, 2021.

A development team of local artists and arts organization representatives, including InnerG, Little Manila Rising, Tuleburg Press, and With Our Words, created the grant application and will review submissions for eligibility. Thereafter, 40 awards will be selected through a randomized lottery system, and distributed by the Stockton Art League.
